本试验的目的是(1)确定昆虫传播不同的基因型的棉花花粉是否是随机的,如果不是,那究竟是什么原因。(2)弄清比马棉保持系和恢复系的花粉在受精作用方面是否同样有效。资料表明,陆地棉或者比马棉基因型的花粉不存在着选择传播的现象。在陆地棉的柱头上,陆地棉保持系的花粉较比马棉类型的花粉更为有效。此外,比马棉恢复系的花粉较比马棉保持系的花粉有效性差。本文强调了杂交制种田必须安全隔离及亲本CMS 和恢复系纯度的重要性。
The purpose of this experiment is to (1) determine whether cotton pollen from different genotypes spread by insects is random, and if not, what is the reason. (2) to find out whether the pollen of the Pima cotton maintainer and restorer lines is equally effective at fertilization. Data show that there is no selective transmission of pollen from upland cotton or pima cotton genotypes. On the stigma of upland cotton, upland cotton maintains pollen more potently than pima-type pollen. In addition, pollen from the Pima cotton restorer line was less potent than the Pima cotton line. This article highlights the importance of safe segregation in hybrid farming and the purity of the parental CMS and restorer lines.
