The study found that peripheral blood mononuclear cells can produce cytokines during hemodialysis (HD) [1]. The levels of transforming growth factor α (TGFα) and insulin like growth factor (IGF) in serum and 12-hour urine of 45 patients with maintenance HD were measured.
