大麦一般比小麦早熟15天左右,抗逆性强,如果将这些性状导入小麦,则对小麦育种具有很大意义。但是,小麦与大麦分属于Tnilicease族的两个不同亚族,染色体数目也不相同(普通小麦2n=42,大麦2n=14),亲缘关系甚远,杂交极不易成功。所以,仅在不久前才见到克鲁斯、费特克、周之杭等,以大麦为母本,小麦为父本杂交成功的报导。
