Abstract：Beijing siheyuan is not only the essence of our national culture， but also the most colorful one in the history of architecture. When we talk about Siheyuan， we first think of all kinds of hutongs and Siheyuan in Beijing. They are ancient， simple and warm， and become a major feature of Beijing.
Analysis and problems of indoor living in Beijing Quadrangle
1. Analysis of the current situation of siheyuan residence
Because of the historical changes， Beijing Quadrangle has become a large mixed place， with less activity space and more and more illegal buildings. As a result， the living environment has started to deteriorate and disorder. However， the illegal buildings and damages in the courtyard have only one formal courtyard， which has lost its former style and formed an inharmonious living environment
2. Problems of indoor living in Siheyuan
Nowadays， a whole room is divided into a simple partition area by people. There are too many internal objects， which make the interior light dim and the lighting and ventilation conditions are particularly poor. Its own space is limited， after the processing of the compartment， the room will become a dark room， and the outdoor light will not come in. Because there is no elaborate design， the division of areas is unreasonable.
Take Beijing siheyuan residential area as an example to solve the internal space
1. Definition of interior space of siheyuan
Because the appearance of the courtyard itself has changed greatly， we can only plan and design a single space. No matter the size of the house， we also need to partition the internal space to meet the daily environment that a normal family should have.
2. Interior design style of siheyuan
The awareness of environmental protection is more and more deeply rooted in people's hearts， so it is particularly important to introduce green into the room and create a fresh and elegant environment. Change the design method and introduce nature into the interior. In the past， the quadrangle had houses on all sides， and the roof was higher， which was more likely to cause internal darkness and humidity.
Conclusion
Most of the old Beijing quadrangles have long been different， but the charm of the city is the accumulation given to her by history. It is a kind of container of social spirit. The rise and fall of the country， the ups and downs of the society and the joys and sorrows of the family are all quietly suffered by it. However， our transformation can't completely eliminate the old and replace the new. It's better to tear everything down and start again. We not only consider how to keep the old buildings to the maximum extent， but also let the old buildings in the old urban area change the new function mode after the upgrading of the indoor living space. Through the new planning and design of the traditional old house interior， to achieve a new and old integration， let the interior space not only meet the needs of modern people for living space， but also retain the original feelings in the design of the old objects， to achieve the concern for human nature. It also better reflects the loveliness of the millennium old city and the century old house.
