现代生物技术的发展,对解决当今世界面临的人口与食物、能源与资源、环境与健康等重大问题,已开始发挥重大作用,并显示出诱人的前景。生物技术在医药卫生、农林牧渔以及轻工食品等领域的应用,开辟了传统产业技术改造的新途径,并将导致新兴产业的形成和产业结构的转变,具有极大的经济潜力。而且,由于它的发展的不平衡性,可能改变不同国家间的经济力量对比,因此普遍引起各国政府的关注。
The development of modern biotechnology has begun to play a significant role in resolving major issues such as population and food, energy and resources, environment and health that are confronting the world today, and it shows an attractive prospect. The application of biotechnology in such fields as medicine, agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery and light industry and food opens up new ways for technological transformation of traditional industries and will lead to the formation of new industries and the transformation of industrial structure with great economic potential. Moreover, because of its unbalanced development, it is possible to change the contrast of the economic power among different countries and thus generally arouse the concern of all the governments.
