诚信,就是要诚实,要守信用。这是一切美好品德的基础,是做人的最根本的美德。春秋战国时代,诚和信都是孔子提出的重要道德观念。儒家学派的代表人物子思和孟轲都把儒家思想发展到了极至,都认为自然界及人类世界的最高境界是“诚”。子思认为“诚者,物之终始,不诚无物,是故君子诚之为贵。诚者,非自我而己也,所以成物也。成己,仁也;成物,知也;性之德也,合外内之道也”。因此,子思眼中的“诚”既是天之道,又是性之道也就是人之道。孟轲在《离娄上》一文中也提出:“思诚者,人之道也。”“至诚而动者,未之有也,不诚,未有能动者”。这些前人的论断说明了一个共同的问题——诚信是做人的第一乐章。
