湖南大学位于长沙岳麓山下,其前身是岳麓书院,湖南的高等学堂,改为湖南大学已有六十余年,是一所有“千年学府”之称的老学校,所以旧住宅占很大比重。现有住宅和教职工宿舍总建筑面积为130508平方米,面积可谓不少,但在三中全会以前所建的全是生活设施不配套的低层建筑;至于解放前遗留下来的大都是简陋的平房。1980年以来,逐年兴建5～8层设施齐全的新住宅,共729套43150平方米,初步缓和了严重缺房的矛盾。但由于教职工队伍的扩大,青年职工新家庭的增加,尽管年年建新房,住房缺口总
Hunan University is located in the foothills of Yuelu Mountain in Changsha. Its predecessor was Yuelu Academy, and Hunan’s college of higher learning was changed to Hunan University for more than 60 years. It is an old school with all the titles of “millennial colleges”.
