This article describes a planar broadband 180 ° hybrid connector. The hybrid connector is implemented using a three decibel 90 ° hybrid connector and a zero-square-series hybrid connector. Interdigital hybrid connectors fabricated on alumina substrates work well in the 4-8 GHz band. This hybrid connector has 0.5 dB insertion loss, ± 7 ° phase imbalance and greater than 18 dB isolation in this band.
