小麦是我区的主要粮食作物,面积650万亩。单产一直徘徊在200斤上下,限制小麦单产的因素之一是,旱地小麦面积大,占麦田总面积的60％多,且绝大部又集中在渭北“旱腰带”上。加之自然条件比省西更为特殊。因此,总结小麦育种经验尤为必要。近年育成的渭麦4号,是我区较有前途的品种。1971—73年在本所连续3年试验,8点次均增产,增产幅度为1.5—37.8％。1974—80年,参加区域试验共104点次,其中83点增产,平均增产13.3％。在大面积生产示范中,
