中国电影资料馆长期以来,影片的使用主要是采用放映影片和录像的方法来实现的,但是,从实际情况来看,录像的声、画质量与影片相差太远,使一些专业电影工作者简直无法接受。因此,影片的长期保存与使用之间的矛盾多年来一直无法解决,这也是我们长期以来一直积极寻求第三途径的主要原因。 1987年,我馆从美国ODC（optical discCorporation）公司引进了一台ODC—620型一次性刻录设备。 用620型光盘刻录机制作的光盘规格和信号格式与LD激光视盘相一致,可以在标准LD放像机上播放。
