在东南亚地区,印度尼西亚是面积最大的国家,拥有众多岛屿,所辖马六甲海峡等重要水路,地理位置十分重要。自1949年印尼独立以来,国内一些高级将领和政界要人都非常重视海军的建设与发展。但由于印尼造船工业落后,只有修船和建造小型船只的能力。加上国内舰船设计技术力量薄弱,因此印尼的舰艇以进口为主。建国初期,印尼与前苏联关系密切,进口了一大批军用舰艇,包括十余艘潜艇。1965年军人上台执政后,与前苏联关系恶化,进口武器转向美国和欧洲。
In South-East Asia, Indonesia is the largest country with many islands and important waterways under the jurisdiction of the Straits of Malacca. Its geographical location is very important.
