《国闻周报》是民国时期一份著名的有关时事政治的期刊。创办人胡政之,一生经历复杂。他名霖,字政之,笔名冷观。1889年出生于四川成都。1907年自费留学日本,考入东京帝国大学研习法律。1911年毕业回国。1912年担任上海《大共和日报》日文翻译,1913年任该报总编辑。1915年,因及时报道“二十一条”的幕后交涉情况、揭露袁世凯的卖国行径,在新闻界崭露头角。1916年,担任安福系《大公报》经理兼总编辑,宣扬皖系的亲日路线,为国人所讽
