学术有它自己的生命,学术生命与时代的背景有关,目前中国的现代化快速发展,中国的国际地位不断提高,在这样的背景下,现代化研究仍然有很大的发展空间;现代化研究的兴起,开阔了历史学科的视野,促进了历史学研究方法与其他学科研究方法的交叉与融合,推进了历史学的现实责任感,从一个学科的角度看,现代化研究仍是一个有存在意义的学术领域。现代化研究的初期阶段已经过去,现在应该向纵深发展,继续研究可以把着眼点放在两个方面,一是个案研究;二是在这个基础上,尝试提出新的理论和观点。
