人类从感官获得的信息数据经过大脑分析整合后形成各种印象、经验甚至是知识与疑惑,这就是最粗略的对于我们如何认识世界的方式的概括。人有各种各样的感官,自古就有五感之说,但是不可否认的是,视觉一直是人类最为依赖的。我们可以快速地说出很多以视觉形象直接影响思维判断的例子的词语,比如“一见钟情”、“以貌取人”、“眼见为实”等等。无论是贬义的还是褒义的又或者是客观的,可见视觉形象对于人类认识与判断事物方面的强大影响力。而装饰设计——尤其是室内外建筑设计的装饰设计——是一种纯粹地服务于视觉感官的设计分类,可以说,她在给人以不同的心理暗示及营造氛围等方面功不可没。
