一、“里约2000”序曲——与会者小学生般的热情号称“里约2000年”的第31届国际地质大会已经结束。但笔者脑子里还常常浮现从2000年8月6日到17日在巴西开会期间令人难忘的情景。每天早晨七点多钟,当太阳刚刚从大西洋升起的时候,在里约热内卢的滨海大道上,31届国际地质大会临时设置的交通站旁开始聚集起一群去开会的人。有的人背着会议发的大书包,有的手里还拿着图筒,他们都在胸前挂着红色的有31届国际地质大会会徽代表的胸牌。其中有头发花白的老人,也有挂着学生字样胸牌的青年。这些从世界各地来的地质工作者,个个匆忙地从附近居住的旅馆赶来乘大巴士去“里约会议中心”参加四年一度的国际地质学家们的“奥林匹克”。但此情此景却使我
I. The “Rio 2000” Overture - The 31st International Geological Conference “Participants Pupils Like Enthusiasm” “Rio 2000 ” has ended. However, in my mind I often find memorable scenes from the 6 to 17 August 2000 meeting in Brazil. Every morning at about seven o’clock in the morning, as the sun rises from the Atlantic Ocean, a group of people going to the meeting gathered near the temporary set-up of the 31st International Geological Congress on the Esplanade of Rio de Janeiro. Some carried big bags at conferences and some even held cartridges in their hands. All of them hung the red name badge on behalf of the 31st International Geological Congress emblem on their chests. Among them are old people with gray hair and hung youth with the badge of students. The geologists from all over the world rushed to the nearby “Rio Convention Center” to attend the “Olympics” of the four-year international geologists in a hurry from nearby hotels.
