Fuzzy language is a rather heated and interesting broad topic in late linguistics study. And my thesis, with the title of Fuzzy Language and Its Functions in A Dream of Red Mansions, deals with the definition first,and mainly intends to explore its communicative functions in the great literary master Tsao Hsueh-chins work.
Joanna Channell has given a complete theory of fuzzinesscommunicative functions, with plenty of examples of fuzzy English occurrence. I think it would be significant to study other languages and sum up other functions based on those language materials. And A Dream of Red Mansions can provide a great resource for this study.
I have summed up eight communicative functions as a supplement to the already-formed theory. Still this broad topic is open for other researchers to discuss and help with perfection.
