The author, who has been working at Tianjin TV Station for years as translator and announcer of" English News", discusses in this thesis, on the basis of personal experiences, features of journalistic English with special reference given to those of TV Journalism and analyzes, with translation theories and real examples in practice,principles and skills on translation of TV Journalism or more exactly, locality TV news. The thesis aims to seek the possible answers to the two questions: What is effective translation of TV Journalism? What devices make TV Journalism translation effective? The thesis arrives at a conclusion that translation of TV Journalism is, above all, a process of rewriting or reproduction in which priority is given to the principles of journalistic writing. The thesis finally emphasizes the significance of the English translation of Chinas locality TV news for foreign propagation and makes appeals: firstly for greater attention and importance to be attached to this respect; secondly for new and distinctive theories to be put forward which are specifically applicable for this respect; thirdly for more conscientious work and stronger sense of responsibility of TV Journalism translators; lastly for greater priority given to the foreign listener (viewer)s demand and need when the locality English news programs are prepared. The first two parts of the thesis discuss the features of Journalistic English (TV Journalism in a specific sense).The third part analyzes the" Inverted Pyramid "(the common style in Journalistic English writing) formed in the English translation of Chinas locality TV news.The fourth part relates the choice of words in the English translation of TV Journalism.The fifth part deals with "Literal and Free Translation" in TV Journslism. The sixth part focuses on the culture involvement in the English translation of Chinas locality TV news.
