We presented a novel technique of controlling filamentation with temperature and conducted the experiment in the temperature gradient gas-filled tube by heating the entrance of the gas with a furnace and cooling the exit of the tube with air.The experiment results show that multiple filaments can be merged into single filament by only increasing the local temperature at the beginning of the filament.This technique offers another degree of freedom of controlling the filamentation and opens a new way for multi-mJ level few-to-monocycle pulse generation through filamentation in rare gases.
