Arabidopsis thaliana MPK3 and MPK6, two closely related MAPKs with functional redundancy, are key players in regulating multiple defense responses.MPK3/MPK6 can be activated by various stimulus and are involved in including ethylene induction, phytoalexin biosynthesis, defense gene activation, reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation, hypersensitive response (HR) cell death, and disease resistance by phosphorylating different substrates including ACS2/ACS6, WRKY33, and ERF6.
