　　Rice (Oryza sativa L.) endosperm consists of four distinct functional domains: aleurone layer, starchy endosperm, transfer cells and embryo-surrounding region.Although aleurone layer and starchy endosperm have the same developmental origin, they are different from each other in morphology, biochemical composition and cell fate.
