Metabolic Biomarkers have been utilized in different fields of medicine for years.Recent developments in mass spectrometry coupled with different separation techniques allow to detect and analyze novel potential biomarkers in highly complex biological samples.Recent efforts invested in development data processing programs and algorithms make available efficient handling very complex datasets generated during small molecule biomarkers discovery process.De novo characterization of putative small molecule biomarkers is extremely important and actually rate limiting procedure.We apply comprehensive mass spectrometry based metabolic profiling technique,data mining,and pathway analysis in discovery of metabolic biomarkers.Analysis of metabolic alterations with the described techniques and methods of data analysis may be used as a technology platform for searching and validation molecular targets,developing metabolic biomarkers for early diagnostics,therapy response prediction,and new prognostic markers.
