The near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) technology can be used to measure brain blood flow in the prefrontal cortex. In this study, a 16-channel NIRS is used to measure concentration changes of oxygenated hemoglobin (oxy-HB) in the prefrontal cortex while the subjects are reading the emotional sentences.Compared with neutral condition, we find they are more sensitive in negative condition.Besides, the degree of activity in right hemisphere is the same as left hemisphere during the emotional processing in Chinese sentences. These results confirm that using NIRS to detect the brain activation evoked by Chinese emotional words is sensitive and feasible.
