The SnO2-In2O3 core-shell nanofibers were synthesized by coaxial electrospinning method. The structure and morphology characteristics of the resultant products were investigated by X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).A crystalline In203 shell layer, about 30 nm-thick,was coated on SnO2 nanofibers with a diameter of 80 nm.To demonstrate the usage of such a core-shell structure nanofibers,a chemical gas sensor has been fabricated and investigated for acetone detection. The SnO2-In2O3 core-shell nanofibers gas sensors exhibit excellent sensing performances in terms of superior selectivity to acetone and a low optimum operating temperature. This phenomenon could be ascribed to core-shell structure of SnO2-In2O3 materials.
