Background: Vascular remodeling is a predominantly feature in hypertension, which relates to the process of vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) proliferation and migration.Previous studies have shown that ClC-3 volume-regulated Cl-channel is required for cerebrovascular remodeling in hypertensive rats. Moreover, Angiotensin Ⅱ could activate the volume-regulate chloride current (Icl,vol) in rabbit cardiac myocyte. In this study, we investigate the modulating mechanism of Angiotension Ⅱ-activated ICl,vol in mouse basilar artery smooth muscle cells (BASMCs) and the its role in cerebrovascular remodeling during hypertension.
