Objiective To explore CT and MRI characters of soft tissue metastasis. Methods CT and MR imaging of 39 cases metastasis of soft tissue confirmed pathologically were retrospectively analyzed. Results 31 cases were performed CT scan, 13 of the 31 were performed plain CT and 15 performed enhanced CT scan, other 3 cases performed both plain and contrast CT scan.19 intramusclular lesions demonstrated iso-or light low density with unclearly boundary and homogeneous or inhomogeneious density on precontrast CT films, the maximum diameter of the lesions was 1.2cm~25.3cm.4 (21.52%) out of the 19 lesions diffused swelling of muscles which were similar with inflammation and 3 cases displayed cluster or amorphous calcification.9 subcutaneous lesions showed single or multiple nodular or lumpy lesions with iso-or light low density, with maximum diameter 0.5cm~5.2cm clear border.2 subcutaneous pancake-shaped lesions showed iso-density with irregular border.Lesions manifested homogeneous or inhomogeneous light to moderate enhancement on post contrast CT pictures, and 7 (33.33%) cases showed marginal enhancement.7 cases performed MR scan and the lesions on MR pre-contrast scan demonstrated iso-or light long T1 and uneven long T2 signal, 6 with clear border and 1 with unclear border, 3 out of the 6 lesions showed pseudo-capsules.4 of the 7 lesions performed MR post-contrast scan and the lesions demonstrated marked inhomogeneous enhancement and the pseudo-capsules had no enhancement. Conclusion Metastasis of soft tissues is not very rare, whose CT and MR images have definite characters and differential diagnosis should be done in diagnosis of soft tissue mass.
