Tetronic acid derivatives belong to one of the most important classes of natural products and pharmaceuticals,so the synthesis and biological evaluation of tetronic acid derivatives have absorbed great attention from the organic and medicinal chemists.1 the enantioselective synthesis of chiral tetronic acid-derived diarylmethanes has scarcely been reported in the literature.2 It is well-known that the bioactivity of one enantiomer may differ from another enantiomer or from the racemates,which reflects the significance of asymmetric catalysis and synthesis.In this context,developing catalytic asymmetric methods for the enantioselective synthesis of tetronic acid-derived diarylmethanes is highly desired and valuable.
