Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has become the most common liver disease, while decreasing fatty acid oxidation and increasing lipogenesis are important contributors to NAFLD.Although acetylation has been demonstrated to play an extensive role in regulating metabolism, little is known about the role of lipid metabolic enzymes acetylation in the pathogenesis of NAFLD.Here, we show that Mitochondrial Trifunctional Protein α-subunit (MTP α), a critical enzyme catalyzing the second and third steps of fatty acid β-oxidation, is acetylated at lysine residues 350, 383 and 406 (MTP α-3K).
