  The content of this issue is presented in the course of introduction of Chinese bioethanol utilization.In Feb.2004, trail exclusive use of gasoline with 10% ethanol was initiated by the government in all areas of five provinces, such as Heilongjiang, Jilin, Henan, and Anhui, and in partial areas of Hebei, Shandong, Jiangsu,Hebei.Bioethanol is produced from grains, mainly from corn now.To avoid conflicts between human food use and industrial use of crops, other raw materials are considered as feedstock such as sugarcane, cassava, sweet potato, sweet sorghum and cellulosic biomass.And cellulose, as the raw material for alcohol, has the bright developing perspective.This paper is intended to introduce the current situation of bioethanol utilization in detail and give some perspective on the bioethanol feedstock resource in China, and to summarize relevant valuable information that we believe others will find useful, in order to facilitate the research in the related field.
