Tannic acid is present in relatively high concentrations in red wines and green teas and has been proposed to be involved in multiple beneficial health effects. In this study, we revealed the efficacy of tannic acid for potent suppression of the excitability of rat dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons and the underlying mechanisms were further investigated.A perforated whole-cell patch technique was performed on rat small DRG neurons and HEK293 cells. In rat small DRG neurons, tannic acid enhances M-type K+ currents but inhibits.
