The boiler combustion is the most important way of power and thermal energy generation in the industry. As the awareness of the energy-saving and environment protection is increasing, and the aim of the energy technology is to develop the boiler combustion with high efficiency and low pollutant emission. We developed the highspeed chemiluminescenc measurement to analyze the characteristics of boiler combustion, transient flame patterns, the distribution of C2* chamiluminescnece, PDF distribution of C2* chamiluminescnece and compare to analysis of flue gas. In boiler combustion, the intense shear layer structure formed by fuel injection and air jet dominate the mixing and combustion characteristics. The stretch effect caused by the different scale of vortex structures wrinkled the flame surface and increase the combustion efficiency. The C2* chamiluminescnece combined with the PDF distribution is viewed as the efficiency indicator of different fuel. The high-speed C2* chamiluminescnece (5000 fps) is capable of analyzing the transient flame structure in boiler combustion. On the contrary, the traditional flue gas analyzer is less sensitive to the variation in combustion characteristics.
