There has been rapidly growing interest in applying carbon-based nanomaterials as scaffolds for tissue engineering.Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) are aliotropes of carbon with a cylindrical structure of extraordinary high length-to-diameter ratio and unique physical properties such as mechanical strength and strong electrical conductivity. These SWCNT are often functionalized with various hydrophilic groups to increase their aqueous dispersibility and compatibility.
