We demonstrate efficiency improvement in polymer solar cells(PSCs)through solution-processed stereoscopic Au nanoparticles(NPs)structure.Au NPs are found to have distinct mechanisms in improving device performance when incorporated in front of poly-(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate)(PEDOT:PSS)and into PEDOT:PSS.Au NPs in front of PEDOT:PSS mainly contributelight scattering while Au NPs into PEDOT:PSS contribute to the enhanced both optical absorption and hole collection. The power conversion efficiency(PCE)was increased, mainly from the improved current density as a resultof better light trappingandthe excited localized surface plasmon resonance(LSPR)induced by the stereoscopic Au NPs structure.
