To compare the cost effectiveness of the two strategies in offering transrectal ultrasound-guided prostate biopsy (TRUS-Bx) using a Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) threshold of≥ 4 ng/ml and a Prostate Health Index (phi) threshold of≥ 35.All patients with PSA of 4-10 ng/ml and a normal digital rectal examination (DRE) who had phi testing at our hospital from June 2013 to May 2015 were reviewed.The costs of the two strategies in offering TRUS-Bx using a PSA threshold of≥ 4 ng/ml and a phi threshold of ≥ 35.0 were compared.Indirect costs of TRUS-Bx-related complications were also estimated using a historical cohort.
