Background There are few data for the clinical application of anticoagulation and the long-term outcome of patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) undergoing percutaneous coronary artery stenting in China. Methods We reviewed 640 patients (74.9% men, mean age (66.5±9.0) years) with paroxysmal (83.3%) or persistent(16.7%) AF undergoing percutaneous coronary artery stenting between January 2007 and July 2011 (inclusive). We recorded clinical and demographic characteristics of the patients, and antithrombotic therapy at discharge.Clinical follow-up was performed, and all stroke, bleeding episodes and major adverse cardiac events (MACE) defined as the composite of cardiac death, myocardial infarction (MI), or target vessel revascularization (TVR) were recorded.
