The major obstacle to the effective diagnosis and treatment of mental illnesses has been our poor understanding of the underlying neuro-psychopathophysiology,and in particular,the lack of objective biomarkers for diagnosis and prognosis.Magnetic resonance(MR)allows the noninvasive investigation of brain structure and function in vivo.
