The complement fixation test (CFT) is a serological test that can be used to detect the presence of either specific antibody or antigen to diagnose infections, particularly with microbes that are not easily detected by culture methods.The beauty of CFT compared to other serological methods, such as enzyme-linked immuno-sorbent assay (ELISA), is exempting from protein immobilization, washing, blocking steps and costly enzyme conjugates.
