As a potential driver of high energy density (HED) matter or inertial fusion energy (IFE),heavy ion beam from accelerators is very unique,with the advantages of large size of samples,homogenously physical condition,isochoric heating of any targets at high density,quasi-isentropic compressing with the front/side shock,in addition to high repetition rate and good reproducibility.Here recent research activities relevant to HED physics at IMP are presented.
