To understand the characteristics of microbial community structure in gas hydrate potential region and to evaluate how bacterial community response to gas hydrate,we adapted 16SrRNA-DGGE and T-RFLP technology combine environment parameters to research the diversity of bacterial communities in sediments from Jiulong Methane Reef 973-4 in the northern South China Sea,and we divided the 973-4 core to three parts:surface layer(20cm to 382cm );middle layer(552cm to 796cm);and deep layer(862cm to 1196cm).
