The near-field optical properties of nano-shell antennas are subjects of both theoretical and experimental interests due to their strong and tunable plasmon resonances.In this article,the coupling of localized surface plasmon resonances in Ag or Au nano-shell dimers with thicknesses varying from 50nm to 5nm is investigated.A clear red-shift exists with decreasing the thickness,which can be well explained by the hybridization between surface plasmon resonances modes on the inner and outer boundary of metallic nano-shells and the plasmon mutual-interference in the nanoshell dimers.Especially,the strongest electric field in the dimer gap can be acquired when the thickness of the nano-shell is 10nm for Au material and 5nm for Ag material.In addition,the refractive index sensitivities to the surroundings of the nanoshells can vary from about 750nm/RIU(per refractive index unit)to about 950nm/RIU when decreasing the thickness of the nanoshell.
