Background and purpose: Inhibition of ERK1/2 by MEK1/2 inhibitors synergizes LXR ligand-induced macrophage ABCA1 expression and cholesterol effiux to apoAI in vitro.Our preliminary study further demonstrated that the combined MEK1/2 inhibitor and LXR ligand reduced atherosclerosis synergistically but eliminated LXR ligand-induced hypertriglyceridemia in vivo.MicroRNA-126 plays an important role in protection of artery integrity and functions.
