Bacterial vaginosis is caused by a complex interaction of multiple factors, including the vaginal microbial ecosystem and human host.Although we have five decades of intense research, its exact aetiology remains elusive, and it recurs frequently. We hypothesized that there would be some different subtypes of bacterial vaginosis which have a different or the same reaction to certain antibiotic therapy. In our study,we identified three robust clusters, including Prevotella group (colpotype I),Atopobium group (colpotype II) and Lactobacullus group (colpotype III).History of bacterial vaginosis had relationship with types of bacterial vaginosis.Cure rates of different coloptypes varied,Lactobacullus group had highest cure rate( 76.5% ) and Atopobium group had the lowest cure rate(42.8%).This findings suggest that bacterial vagninosis may exist certain subtypes which may have different treatment effect.
