Clubroot disease, which is caused by Plasmodiophora brassicae,is one of the economically important diseases of vegetable Brassica crops in the world. The pathogen infects the root of plants, which starts abnormal growth, stunt and finally results in massive galls, called dubs. The pathogen is soil-borne and survives as resting spores for long periods in the soil.Agricultural practices such as chemical application and crop rotation are insufficient to control. Therefore, development of genetically resistant cultivar is one of the effective approaches to minimize crop loss from infection of the pathogen.
