  Dyes are widely used in the textile industry to color the natural fibers.The toxicity of the dyes is of considerable interest due to the ecotoxicological and environmental problems.Dyes cause major diseases to human beings and animals.The electrochemical reduction of the dye has been investigated in aqueous solution using an electrochemical cell,spectrophotometer and controlled potential electrolysis(9.00 V).Optimum conditions for dye discoloration bycontrolled potential electrolysis use an alkaline medium using cathodic stripping spectrophotometer.A linear calibration graph was obtained using accumulation times of zero time,2,4,6 and 8 minutes respectively and an accumulation potential of 9.00 Volts.Electrochemical treatment showed to be very efficient in removing dyes color(Reactive Dyes)90-99.3%.
