月亮山自然保护区兽类共51种,隶属8目22科42属,约占贵州哺乳动物总数(142种)的35.92%.其中IUCN易危(VU)物种5种;列入《中国濒危动物红皮书(兽类)》极危(CR)物种1种;濒危(EN)物种5种,易危(VU)物种13种,近危几近易危(NT几近VU)物种8种;国家Ⅰ级保护动物3种,Ⅱ级保护动物10种;"三有"物种17种,特有种5种;被列入CITES附录的物种13种;从分布型来看,东洋型29种,占总数(51)种的56.86%,南中国型10种,占总数的19.61%,古北型8种,占总数的15.69%.
