The electric field induced by the conventional IPS electrodes is not uniform,which leads to the complex induced-birefringence profile,as a result,the optical simulation is difficult.Using the BPLCD with wall-shaped electrodes model instead of the IPS electrodes model,the equivalent thickness of the LC layer in BPLCD with wall-shaped electrodes is calculated by the equal transmission in the two models under various driven voltage.Moreover,the optimized cell gap of IPS-BPLCD is obtained.
