Rice seeds are not only the staple food resource of the world population, but also an essential material for agricultural production.Successful germination of rice seeds is a prerequisite for its cultivation. In order to uncover the mechanisms underlying rice seed germination, systematic proteomic and phosphoproteomic analyses were conducted on rice seeds during this process.Metabolic pathways were constructed based on the proteome profiling data.Along with the comparative proteomic analyses,we found that the enhancement of anaerobic respiration including glycolysis and fermentation might be the main source of ATPs at the early stage of germination, and the aerobic respiration was only enhanced at the late stage.
