Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC) are currently attracting significant interest as next-generation photovoltaics because of their low cost and high efficiency. To obtain high conversion efficiency, researchers have designed and synthesized a wide variety of dye compounds. In many cases, both laboratory synthesized and commercially available dye samples potentially contain contaminants such as isomers and degradates. We have developed the novel HPLC/MS based analytical and purification methods for dye compounds.N3 dye, one of the common dyes for DSSC, was utilized as a standard compound.A commercially available N3 dye sample was analyzed by reversed-phase LC/PDA/MS.
