A growing body of work implicates chemokines,in particular CXCL12 and its receptors,in the progression and site-specific metastasis of various cancers, including breast cancer. However,as a potent chemotactic factor for leukocytes,CXCL 12 also has the potential to enhance anti-cancer immunity. The aim of this study was to further elucidate the role of CXCL1 2 in breast cancer development and metastasis. To achieve this,wild-type CXCL12 and a CXCL12 antagonist,CXCL 12(P2G),were overexpressed in the 4T1.2 mouse model of breast carcinoma.
