The pattern of DNA methylation is shaped by different factors including CpG dinucleotide density. To globally evaluate the relationship between CpG density and DNA methylation,an algorithm was developed that includes multiple steps of gauchian transformation, lowess normalization,density-based rescaling, and peak findings. This algorithm was applied to multiple whole genome bisulfite sequencing methylomes including 36 adult human tissues and 50 mouse tissues of different development stages and tissue origins.
