As people bereaved by suicide and those around them navigate the difficult journey of traumatic grief, many tensions exist.During this panel discussion, presenters and participants will engage in a discussion about the following topics: 1) Do we tell children about suicide or not? When do we tell them? How much information? 2) How can we balance the need to prevent contagion with the need to honour loss? 3) What services do we provide-lay led versus professionally facilitated? Knowing that the research indicates the benefits of peer led efforts, how do we manage quality control? 4) How do we balance getting a familiar sense of normalcy (which can be grounding) to a community that has been deeply affected by a suicide loss? 5) How do we safely involve survivors or suicide loss and attempts in research? What are the best protocols for this?
